  Not sure what to tell my 4 year old about Santa

  my adorable little son is very excited about christmas.

  i have not made a big thing about it, but he must have picked up the christmas spirit from what he is seeing in the shops and on tv.

  he loves the music, and movies and all the decorations.

  Santa is real. My wife has grand kids and some still believe, others know, while some aren't sure because of kids at school. When they ask me

  if Santa is real or if they tell me Santa is not real; I tell them Santa is real.

  I ask them if they believe in Jesus. Their answer is yes. I ask if they have ever seen him. Their answer is no, but they have seen pictures. I remind them that Jesus looks different in different pictures, because no has ever really seen him, just like no one has ever really seen Santa clause.

  Just like Jesus means different things to different people Santa too means different things to different people. Just like Jesus is in your mind and your heart, that is where Santa clause is and he can mean anything to you that you want him to.

  One final point I tell them. If you don't think Santa clause is magical to adults; Just watch how big a smile adults get on their faces when Santa clause walks into the room.

  New Field Service Policy - jw's assigned to neighborhoods

  i am looking for confirmation on the following:.

  jws are now being individually assigned to smaller territories, and they are told to consistently work that same territory over & over again.

  the reason is that the watchtower wants the jws to build relationships with the people in that area.

  It just amazes me how bible language is changed to suit the goals of the org. Some things are "interpreted" and "enforced" exactly as the scriptures read. While others are and can be twisted at will.

  My point: The scriptures explicitly say that Jesus sent them out 2 by 2. Not individually! And yet he said that this preaching of the good news would still be accomplished!

  But the org. thinks they know better than Jesus. Their track record shows they have no concern for the safety of their followers.

  First hand experience. When I was in, my ex wife was doing door to door by herself, at the direction of circus overseer. In an apt. building, was attacked by man we later found out to be a registered sex offender. Fortunately for her she was a bigger,strong woman and able to fight him off and get away. Comments by the bros. 'Good thing you had the help of the angels.'

  Giving a thorough witness at the laundry

  there are a couple of public laundry facilities i pass by every day on my way to and from work.

  on the occassions i have to take my bed comforter down to the big machines, i always see the magazines sitting around.

  i'm thinking of making a bi-weekly stop at these places to add a note to each magazine.. i noticed on this forum someone suggested using a marker to write jwfacts.com, or some such thing.

  Too wordy. If I saw that I would think it was from some religious organization in "competition" with JW's, and I would not finish reading the note or the magazine. However, The truth about JW's @ jwfacts.com and freeminds.org would peak my interest. That's just me.

  Things that made you cringe at "the meetings"

  i always cringed so hard when a "brother" or "sister" would make some overly heartfelt comment about jehovah-something, usually related to a personal experience of theirs, and get all teared up and/or start crying.. once this fringe dude that's been df'd twice now was giving a talk and kept having these long awkward pauses where he looked like he was real stressed out, then he would start up again, stutter, slip up, and repeat the process until he looked down and went "i, i just can't do this" and walked off the stage and left the hall.. it also made my spchincter pucker when a young person would give some super devotional comment on how much they love big j and whatnot, which would make the congregation all smile in their hearts and wag their heads in approval..

  Are they really that weak willed?

  mr falcons thread on jw partys made me think about my new family's get togethers.. once or twice a year, we have a get together/picnic ( around 40 or 50 mostly family ).. we drink quite a bit of wine/ pernod ( our wives or 'sometimes husbands) drive home ).

  i have never heard crude talk.

  people sware a bit, but in an amusing kind of way.

  I think there another reason witnesses are the way they are. It's all about keeping up appearances. It reminds me of the joke that I use to explain the conduct and hypocrisy of so many witnesses.

  How do you keep a witness from drinking all your beer at your barbecue?

  Invite another witness.

  I have seen so many witnesses able to"blend in", when they are by themselves. Unless they are real banana heads. But add another to the mix and all of a sudden it gets extremely stuffy.

  Opinion-Is This Clear Evidence that Jehovah's Holy Spirit is with The Watchtower?

  i was having a discussion with an aquaintance about if there was evidence that the watchtower has jehovah's holy spirit.

  he said, "given the fact that no other organization has won more supreme court cases than jehovah's witnesses to protect their religious freedom in north america and abroad is unrefutable evidence of jehovah's blessing by means of his holy spirit".. your thoughts?.

  if JW's truly had Jehovah's spirit behind them, don't you think that proof would be in the preaching work more so than in constitution manipulated court cases? Case in point: Why would God's organization have to join hands with Satan's organization, The UN, in order to further the all important, commanded by God, preaching work in these "closed" countries?
